I have been a punch user for the past several years. This new version is a wonderful improvement and includes a lot of additional features, but the basics for manipulating the objects and navigating the interface are the same. Great, since I didn’t want to invest a ton of time learning something completely new. The interface is very intuitive and there is a new training center that provides instructional videos, tutorials, and sample drawings to give you ideas.
I purchased the software because I wanted to reproduce my existing house. I very quickly created my property boundaries and correctly placed my house on the defined terrain. After just a few minutes, I had a rough draft of my home. Within an hour, I had all the doors, windows, and fixtures in placed with accurate dimensions. I did take measurements prior to starting. This is an excellent tool for planning, remodeling, and visualizing new ideas for your home. Changing walls, door placement, fixtures, etc. takes just seconds of pointing and clicking. While you can get things to the point where you can either get very accurate materials lists or enough information to save time and money with a contractor, it does take a bit of time. There are dozens of included object libraries and instant web access allows you to shop for building products, accessories, and decorating items. You also have the ability to customize all of the properties of a particular object such as countertops, cabinets, and so on for color, texture, grain, etc. As always,online support is also available to answer questions.
Although I was interested in some interior work, the first priority was to make changes and updates to my landscaping. My yard and has a variety of elevations and grading. I am currently working with the topography and elevation tools so that I can create an accurate template to map out exactly what I want. The most difficult part of this process was getting good measurements of the variations in my yard so that I would have an accurate starting point to transfer to the program. If you are starting from scratch, it is a lot easier.
I recommend taking advantage of the quick start tool and video tutorials when getting started. It makes the process easy! Overall a great product for the money. Lots of features and easy to use. Highly recommended.

I purchased this software in order to visualize changes I wanted to make to my home. I was apprehensive at first because I thought it would be difficult. I have tried using this type of program years ago and never could figure it out. I’m so glad I gave it another shot! The instructional videos answered all my questions before I even got started and walked me through how to utilize the features. I found it so easy to drag each room and just drop it where I wanted it to go. I also was able to change the paint, flooring, and even add my furniture with the click of my mouse so that I could see how my home would look when it was finished. I also liked the green features the program provided. Being able to save money and help the environment is very important to my wife. We were able to click on an icon and see where we could save energy and even got some ideas on materials to use. There was even a feature that kept track of the building materials I was going to need so that I ensured I stayed within my budget. I had so much fun doing the inside that I decided to try and play around with my outdoors. Although I was not intending to redo any landscaping, I have ideas for the future. I live in the desert and have a hard time keeping plants alive in the summer. The program has a tool that helped me find the types of plants that work best for where I live.
