Ugh… I have assembled dozens of flat pack furniture items in my day, and I am very good at following written instructions but the instructions that came with this are about the worst I have seen. Only purchase this bench if you are an experienced carpenter and don’t feel like cutting your own cedar pieces. The diagrams are poorly drawn and are slightly blurry on my copy so that wood pieces do not quite match the diagrams. There are all these extra screw holes that aren’t in the confusingly drawn pictures. Screws are alternately lableled 1 1/2 then 1 3/4, although they refer to the same screws. Seat Cleat “A” is labeled (G) on the supply list which is confusing. The worst thing is that the cam locks, key pieces to hold the arm in place, do not lock around the cam posts.
On the other hand, I think the wood is all good quality, nicely selected, and seems to be cut correctly, and would make a nice bench if I could figure out what the heck they mean in Step 4 of the instructions. They did send an additional little birdhouse, which is nice, I guess. I have not attempted assembly of the birdhouse. I might return the bench… What a pain, as this is a large, bulky item that I have almost finished putting together after several hours wrestling with it.
