The base does not hold the weight of the umbrella. We had to use cinder blocks to weigh it down, which looked awful. (The other reviews talking about the base were not here when I ordered this…too bad.)
Then, the first time we used it, a small breeze came and the string that suspends the umbrella broke.
I concur with the other reviewers that it isn’t worth the money to ship it back as it is so heavy. Mine won’t even make Craigslist…it’s going straight into the trash.

We are very pleased with this product. Set up was easy (with a ratchet), love the velcro on the net panels — since it allows us to place the doors wherever we want. The velcro also makes it easy to take the panels in and out as needed. With the nets out and umbrella collapsed, this weathered a summer thunderstorm very well.
With limited space on our deck, this is the perfect size. We weighed the base down with paver stones as recommended – and it works perfectly.
The construction is not industrial strength – but it is appropriate for the price.
We are enjoying our instant, bug free room whenever we want it – and enjoying getting some afternoon sun with the umbrella down. You can’t do that with a gazebo.

I was excited when I purchased the item online, but that excitement quickly changed when it arrived. The shipping was fast enough, but the product was obviously used. All the packaging was old and the base and frame had scratches all over. Additionally, several plastic pieces showed previous use. To make matters worse, no documentation came with the product. There was no warranty, no assembly instructions, no operation information, and no safety guidelines, which is typical of any product of this kind. I contacted the seller, BestChoiceproducts, and was told that the product does not have any documentation of any kind, which I find hard to believe. Their customer service told me that they would provide a “FULL” refund, EXCEPT that I had to pay to ship the item back to them. However, since they are so benevolent, I was told that they would refund me $15 if I chose to keep the item in its current condition. I contacted AMAZON about BestChoiceproducts’s refund policy, which did not mention that buyers had to pay for return shipping. Amazon indicates that I am due a full refund and that I do not need to pay for return shipping. Waiting to see how this ends, but BUYERS BEWARE of BestChoiceproducts.

What a fantastic idea – a large, freestanding umbrella with an option bug net. I was looking for a 10ft umbrella but the removable bug net on this one and the square shape sold me. It’s like having a gazebo and umbrella in one.
The netting attaches with Velcro so we’ll have to see how well it hold up after a full season off attaching and removing as needed. For the price I’m not too concerned.

At this price, wasn’t expecting the greatest, but did expect it to be used more than 4 times. Bought a base, that helped with the tipping over. The first time used with a base, we had a slight breeze come up. Broke 3 of the plastic pieces because it wanted to twist and turn!!! There is NO airflow through the top to help with this problem. By the way it broke the plastic pieces, you would of thought we had a tornado come through. I mean, I am talking the gentlest of breezes. The umbrella is now inoperable and unusable. Emailed Best Choices about this figuring that there was at least a 1 year warranty on it. Nope, nothing they can do about it. Not even a hint on where to get replacement parts. My advice – Buy a umbrella with metal parts. At least it will take a few years for the parts to start rusting!! Great concept though, just poor workmanship.
