Kitchen Herb Garden Ideas For Your Own Patio

A kitchen herb garden is the perfect way to enhance and show off your home curb appeal. Not only you get a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing garden but you also get to use it in your cooking tasks, while at the same time, saving money in the process.

It is very easy to start your own herb garden in a small place or yard in front of your kitchen window. For a very tiny space, it’s easy to simply use several pots that you can fill them with various lovely smelling cooking herbs that can be used in preparing food.

There are some herbs that are annuals, including basil, which means that they need to be planted again next year, however others, such as mint, lavender or even rosemary, can be used every year without the need for replanting. They simply come up every year without any effort from your part.

There are various herbs and plants that you can add to your garden which are not easily found in the local supermarket or grocery store. This is an extra benefit of having your own kitchen herb garden. For example, there are some various types of basil that can not be easily purchased locally such as the lemon, lime, Thai or purple ones. By planting them in your garden, you will have all your neighbors visiting for a ‘pinch’.

Of course it is important to experiment. While some herbs might be a miss, others will be a great success that you can replicate every day. Also some herbs are best planted in winter, others in summer. And some are best used fresh and others dry. For example my wife keeps some of the dried up herbs in her cabinets in the kitchen for sprinkling in some foods that are best with dry herbs rather than fresh ones.
